Background

Yuan had a Bachelor degree from the Northwestern Polytechnical University. He had worked as an electrical engineer and a radio frequency engineer for a few years before he came to USA. He received a Master degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in electrical and computer engineering.

He is working towards his Ph.D. degree in MiRCTECH group led by Prof. John Papapolymerou. He is also associated with Georgia Electronic Design Center. Yuan's research focuses on the design, fabrication and characterization of the novel millimeter/sub-millimeter wave passive components and packaging solutions for the next generation wireless communications and THz signal sources, including filters, transitions, power dividers, couplers, antennas and frequency multipliers.

Research Interests

  • Monolithic microwave IC (MMIC) design and modeling
  • THz multiplier
  • Tunable mm-wave passives
